Susan Phillips, owner of Susan's Flowers & Gifts, has a great history with Main Street. She was born in a hospital that was located where the local post office now stands, and she lived on East Main Street in a home her grandfather built until she was 17 years old.
She has had much work experience in the City of Baldwyn. Her father, Jap Reynolds, owned Kirk Hardware. She began her very first job there shelling peas for the public in the basement with a pea sheller. She then started working at Stone's Jewelry which was first located by Houston's Pharmarcy. There, she worked for about 14 years as a sales clerk under Joann Stone who was a "great mentor" to Phillips.
Phillips purchased Judy's Flowers in 1991 which was located where Allstate Insurance is located now. In 1997, she gained the opportunity to move her business downtown. "Here, its a larger work area, I get alot of walking traffic during the day, and it's definately back to my roots on Main Street!" said, Phillips.
When asked what she loves most about her job, Philllips replied, "it's really a God given talent and I love what I do. My customers are like my family. I have compassion for each one. I love being able to give back to the community and with this job I can. I just love Baldwyn."
